UNIVERSITY OF LINCOLN – ANIMAL BEHAVIOUR CLINIC

We are a referral only animal behaviour clinic.

In order for us to see a dog or cat for a behavioural consultation, we need a referral form and clinical history from the referring veterinarian and a history form from the owner.

CONSULTATION

Once we have received the veterinary referral form, a clinical history and the pets history form, your pets information will be trigaed and we will then be in touch to book you in for a behavioural consultation.

DAYS AND TIMES: Consultations take place Monday to Friday throughout the year. Please allow several hours for your visit as consultations can be up to three hours long for complex cases.

WHO: We usually ask you to bring all your pets and all members of the family to the consultation, if possible. Please provide details of any additional pets you intend to bring to the consultation at the point of booking.

WHAT: Consultations typically include an action plan to take away on the day of the consultation, full assessment, prognosis and written report for you and your vet. Any subsequent consultations or 1-2-1 sessions are then charged additionally.

VIDEO: In addition, if you have any video footage of your pet’s behaviour, please email the footage to us or bring the footage with you to the behaviour consultation. If you do not feel it is safe to video tape your pet’s behaviour, please do not attempt to make a video.

INSURANCE: If your pet is insured check if they are covered for behavioural problems. Although we cannot claim directly from the insurance company, we are happy to complete the necessary paperwork to enable you to claim the money back on your insurance following the consultation. In all cases where further medical tests or medication are required these will be arranged and charged through the referring veterinary surgeon.

COVID-19: If you experience, or if anyone in your household experiences, any COVID-19/cold or flu-like symptoms within 14 days of your consultation, or if you/anyone in your household have been exposed to someone experiencing COVID-19/cold or flu-like symptoms within 14 days of your consultation, please contact us ahead of your appointment.

OUT OF HOURS: For out of hours emergencies (veterinarians and clients post-consultation only), please ring 01522 835475 and follow the instructions on the recorded message. If you are experiencing an emergency situation relating to behaviour prior to seeing a clinician in our clinic, please contact your primary care vet for support. If you have not already been seen by a clinician in the clinic we cannot offer advice.
